Belmont Stakes Betting Tips
-
Watch Video of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes!
- Were any horses at the Derby or Preakness slowed by traffic on the track?
- Which horses inthe Derby or Preakness were surging at the end of the race? Which were fading? The Belmont Stakes is a long mile and a half. If the horse is a quick starter, there is no gas left in the tank for the end of the race!
- An experienced jockey really pays off on a long track like Belmont
- Track conditions are very important, especially if the track is muddy or rain is forecast.
- No horse has won the triple crown since Affirmed in 1978... A few have reently won the first two triple crown legs, only to fail in the Belmont!
- If the field is small, try playing exactas or trifectas. Try boxing horses. Exacta boxes are called quinellas. This mean, play the same two (exacta) or three (trifecta) horses in all possible outcomes. A quinella costs $4, a trifecta box will cost $12 - but it covers you inany situation where those horses are the top two or three finishers.
- As always, pay attention to the way the bets are being played in the final hours of wagering. Wait as late as possible to make your wagers.
