What is Reduced Juice?

In sports betting Reduced Juice, which is also known as reduced vig, is wagering on point spreads and moneylines at a lower cost than the regular -110 odds. In the short run reduced juice does not save you a lot of money, but if you look at it for the year it can save you a ton of cash. Let’s say over the year a bettor for $100 for games bets the reduced juice for 1,000 plays. A thousand bets made over the course of the year saving $5 each bet will come out to $5,000.

If you have the opportunity to find a bet for reduced juice, you should do so. There are a few sportsbooks, generally the bigger ones, which offer reduced juice wagers. If you are a beginner online sports bettor or are simply looking to make the best deal possible increasing your chances of cashing in look for reduced juice bets.

a Pass the juice?

Ok, so you are probably thinking, what the hell is the juice? The juice, which is also called the vig, is the commission that the sportsbook charges when they take your wager. This is one of the main ways that the sportsbook makes money. At many of the Internet sportsbooks the juice is 10%, which basically means that to win $100 on a bet, you will need to wager $110. One of the better ways that you can win some extra cash when betting on sports is to find a sportsbook that offers lines of less than 110 and bet with them.

The same odds, just a bigger payout

This example shows that reduced juice can increase your chances of winning, as it will not have anything to do with the odds, but you will have to bet less to win the same amount. If you bet at the 110 when you can bet on the 105 reduced juice line, you are wasting $5 every single time that you place a bet. Look at it this way, by not betting the reduced juice line, you are not only risking money on the game you are betting on, but you are already behind the 8-ball since you have already lost money and the game has not even begun!

Here is another way to look at it. You continue to risk $110 that you are used to betting, but with the reduced juice line you will not win the usual $100, but you will win $104 having odds of -105. Hey, $4 is not much, but if you make quite a few wagers over the course of the year it does add up. Why not pay the same and get more when you do not have to by taking advantage of the reduced juice that is offered?
