Basketball Betting - NBA vs. NCAA
Even though it is the same sports college hoops and NBA hoops are very different in terms of betting on them. The NBA has fewer teams, but a longer season playing in around 2.5 times more games. Bettors that like to wager on the NBA do it because of the routine of the sport as well as the more well known betting factors. NBA bettors look at such aspects of the long schedule, travel, player injuries, and player stats in home and away games. People that bet on the college game look at some of those aspects as well as others, such as big rivalries and motivational factors. Many times people that bet on college hoops will not bet on NBA hoops and vice versa. Consider the Calendar A big difference between the two hoops betting options is scheduling. Generally in the college game teams play a couple of times per week. What this means is that fatigue is not usually a factor, as it is in NBA hoops. In the NBA teams can play up to five times per week. At most there are around 13 NBA games each night, but in college hoops there are many more betting opportunities, as they can play 20-30 games on average. There are over 200 teams in college to bet on not including non-Division 1 teams, while the NBA only has 30 teams. Home Court Advantage The one thing that needs to be considered in betting on the college game is the atmosphere in the game, which can get crazy. Sure, there are big rivalries in the NBA, but nothing like in college that has students and fans going crazy for their team. In college it is for pride considering that college players are not in it for the money. Emotion Plays a Role In the college game the stakes are high each and every night, as every game is important. In the NBA around half the teams make the playoffs, so, in many games, motivation is not a huge factor. This is important when looking into betting NBA games. In the NBA a team can have an off night and lose to the worst team in the league, but while there are upsets in college they do not happen as often since they are always motivated to win in order to make it to the NCAA Tournament. An NBA team losing a few games in a row is not big deal over an 82 game season, but in college it can be the make or break in getting to the Big Dance. Look at historical stats Betting on NBA away underdogs can be a profitable proposition in the NBA, but in college away underdogs do not win often, as the home court advantage is much bigger in the NCAA. In the NBA all teams have players that were stars in college, so it is not a big shock when there is an upset, even a pretty big one. Betting on the NBA in the playoffs and in college hoops is a different monster. In the NBA there are series’ of 7 games, while in the NCAA there is only one game and if they lose they are done. Because of this there are a couple ways to make some green. Even in a NBA playoff series the underdog usually wins one game and therefore you can cash in on some good odds. In the college game, as stated before, it’s one and done, so you do not have another chance if your team loses, so you can ride them far in the Big Dance if they go on a run.Follow WageringSports On:
