• Do not shy away from betting on the road team that is going for a series sweep. In baseball a home team only gets swept around 10% of the time, and some teams have an even better record and are rarely swept on their home field. It may be the case that you will bet on the home team that are looking to avoid being swept it is a good idea to stay away from betting on all home teams and sweeps. You will find that you can get good odds, as home sweeps do not happen often. You can take advantage of these odds and win some cash.


• Do not always bet on the big favorite. This sounds obvious, as the more cash you drop on a bet the more that you will have to win in order to just break even. Usually a team that has a money line of -160 or over be stayed away from because of this reason. For instance, if a team is posted as -200 to win a game they are seen as a heavy favorite, as the betting ratio for this money line is 2:1. You will have to win $2 to win $1 and this is not a smart bet, as the risk is much more than the reward. Even for the best MLB teams they will have win percentages that tend to range between 60% - 62%. So in the aforementioned example the team that you bet on has to win over 66% of the time just to break even. • If you want to make a bet on the team that is the heavy favorite it is a good idea to bet on the run line. The run line is a combination of a spread and a money line. If you make a bet on 1.5 runs in a game the team that you bet on must win by at least 2 or more runs. However, this is totally plausible, as blowouts in baseball, especially by heavy favorites, happen often. Another reason that it is smart to bet on the run line when betting on the heavy favorite is just like the tip above, as betting on the straight money line will not give you a big payout for what you have to risk.
