TODAY’S NBA PICKS
ORLANDO -11 ½ vs. Charlotte
MILWAUKEE -1 ½ vs. Dallas
Milwaukee/Dallas OVER 191 ½
Orlando Magic vs. Charlotte Bobcats
Why I’m picking ORLANDO -11 ½: The Magic won 93-81 in Charlotte last Tuesday, and I’m looking for another convincing win tonight at home.
The Magic have had some bumps in the road thus far, but they’re getting Rashard Lewis back tonight after his 10-game suspension to start the season, and that should be an instant boost to their offense.
Not that Charlotte needed another threat to make the task of putting in a good road performance and trying to snap their current four-game losing streak any harder. The Bobcats are 0-4 on the road thus far, and that includes a 33-point loss at Boston in their season opener and a 23-point loss at Detroit last Wednesday.
The Magic, meanwhile, are coming off of a 16-point win over New Jersey in which they allowed only 72 points, and that does not bode well for Charlotte, who’s scored 75 and 74 in their last two games. With Lewis back in the lineup, the Magic should be sharp(er) ffensively, and they should roll comfortably over the slumping ‘Cats.
Milwaukee Bucks vs. Dallas Mavericks
Why I’m picking MILWAUKEE -1 ½: The Bucks are on fire right now, having won three in a row to improve to 5-2.
And in case you hadn’t heard, that charge has been led by rookie Brandon Jennings, who scored 55 in Saturday’s 129-125 win over the Warriors. That near-record effort followed a 32-point showing in a win over Denver on Wednesday night, and it took the Bucks to 4-0 at home for the season.
Jennings isn’t the only hot Buck right now, as Andrew Bogut is averaging 19.4 points, 10.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.0 blocks in five November games, and he’s shooting 62.3% from the field this month. In the Bucks’ three straight wins, the averages are 21/3/9.7/2.3/2.0, and a downright clinical 69% from the field.
Certainly no disrespect to a Dallas team that’s topping the Southwest Division and is 4-2 on the road this season, but the Bucks are just too hot to not take.
Why I’m picking OVER 191 ½: The Bucks have scored in triple digits in their last three games, and though Dallas is one of the better defensive teams in the offense-friendly Western Conference, the Bucks are a hot team led by a man with a flaming hot hand.
Dallas certainly can keep up if points start getting scored in bunches, as they’ve hit the 120-point mark twice this season already, torching Houston for 121 and Toronto for 129.
