FREE NBA PICK (Wed., Nov. 25): Houston vs. Dallas

Winner winner, chicken dinner.

Well, I had spaghetti last night, but that’s irrelevant. What is relevant is that I produced another winner with yesterday’s Denver-New Jersey pick. The Nuggets barely covered the 13 ½-point spread, winning 101-87 over the 0-14 Nets, but that they covered is all that matters for you and me both in the end.

I’m now 12-4 in my last 16 NBA picks, and I’ve got my eye on yet another Western Conference winner tonight.

TODAY’S NBA PICK

HOUSTON ROCKETS vs. DALLAS MAVERICKS

When the Mavs and Rockets met in Dallas two weeks ago, there was plenty of scoring from the outset, as the two teams combined for 224 points in a 121-103 win. That number would’ve been even higher – and the score would’ve been closer – had Houston not gone cold in the third quarter, when Dallas outscored them 26-13 to turn a four-point halftime deficit into a nine-point lead.

It’ll be another high-scoring, high-flying Lone Star State shootout tonight in Houston, which is why I’m salivating at what the day’s NBA odds have the over/under as.

Both teams are having no problems scoring right now. The Rockets come in averaging 103.7 points per game thus far this season, and they have topped the century mark in 12 of their 14 games this season. Houston has scored no less than 102 points in any of their six home games as well, and that’s definitely a number worth noting.

The Mavericks are averaging 101.4 points per game thus far this season, and they’re averaging 105.3 points over the last four games.

It’s all the better (well, for you and me) that neither team is exactly playing sparkling defense. The Mavericks have given up more than 110 points in two of their last four games, including last night against Golden State, who snapped Dallas’ five-game win streak with a surprising 111-103 win.

Meanwhile, the Rockets come in allowing an average of 100.6 points per game this season, which ranks 19th in the league. Houston has allowed more than 100 points eight times this season, including 111 and 106 in their last two home games.

If you’re into trends and history, you might be scared off by the fact that the totals.asp”title=”betting totals” >total hasn’t been above tonight’s over/under in any meeting since April 2005, a 106-102 Dallas win in Game 3 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series.

However, the past is the past, and I’m looking at how these two teams are performing in the present, and that‘s why I‘m looking at this one to hit on the over tonight.
