8th november 2009: Wigan – Fulham
WIGAN
The last game against Portsmouth was a big defeat: 0-4. Wigan Athletic were outfought and outplayed throughout and never tested England goalkeeper David James.
“We had a couple of half-chances but our standards are a lot higher than that and it just wasn’t good enough from us. No complaints. Portsmouth started the game with huge intensity and that’s what we were lacking. We were chasing the game far too much and the intensity in our play was not enough.” Martinez said.
Wigan stand just 1 point below Fulham.

FULHAM
After their fine 3-1 win over Liverpool, Fulham aim to stretch their unbeaten Barclays Premier League run to five matches against a Wigan Athletic side.
Fulham manager Roy Hodgson is likely to be without key duo Andrew Johnson and Danny Murphy. Johnson (shoulder) and captain Murphy (knee) both missed Thursday’s Europa League defeat against Roma which could mean a start for Bobby Zamora in attack.
Dickson Etuhu could start after recovering from a knee injury while Damien Duff will be given a fitness test to see if he has overcome an Achilles injury.

VERDICT
Fulham are probably the better side but they came back from a champions’ league match in Rome and will miss key players for this game… Wigan will enojy the home factor and will concentrate to win this game after the defeat of Portsmouth.
You can make a case for any of the three results here, I would say draw.
