THE WEEK IN SPORTS
What a week in sports it has been and what a week coming up. Everyone is obviously tuning in to the baseball playoffs as the action heats up and the Yankees look unbeatable. It may end up being a New York- Philly world series if the Angels don’t show up pretty soon and play some baseball and the Dodgers get some good pitching. We have a ton to cover so lets start off with a look at the biggest story in sports, the playoffs in major league baseball.

963 New York Yankees +1½ -170 +115
964 Los Angeles Angels -1½ +150 -130
Pitchers: RHP Jered Weaver (16-8, 3.75) vs. LHP Andy Pettitte (14-8, 4,16)
This 3rd game of the series is one the Angels have to win and it is about to kick off in about an hour. If you want some things to look at I am going to try and provide with a quick run down of where we stand and what we should look for this afternoon. as you probably know the Yankees lead series 2-0. Remember though, Angel Stadium has been a bad place for the Yankees over the years, although they did gain some confidence when they took 2 of 3 in September . . . Pettitte is 6-7 with a 4.19 ERA career in Anaheim. He was 0-2, 7.88 vs. the Angels in 2009 . . . Weaver is 4-2, 5.88 ERA lifetime against the Yankees.
Weaver has been dominant at home and I like his chances this afternoon, he has been 9-3, 2.90 at home in 2009, which manager Mike Scioscia said is one of the reasons he saved him for Game 3. This is the fifth time the Angels have fallen behind 0-2 in an ALCS. They have never come back to win the series. One thing to note is is last games crucial play was missed by Maicer Izturis and Howie Kendrick will replace him at second base vs. Pettitte.
another interesting side note is Andy Pettitte will try and tries to become the winning-est pitcher in postseason history this afternoon.
Pettitte held the Twins to a run and three hits in 6 1/3 innings in Game 3 of the ALDS.
The 37-year-old lefty, who was 14-8 during the year, lost to the Angels the last time he faced them and is 12-10 with a 4.70 ERA lifetime against them.
Los Angeles, meanwhile, will rely on Jered Weaver, who was also magnificent in his ALDS start. Weaver started the second game of that series against the Boston Red Sox and allowed just one run and two hits in 7 1/3 innings.
That start followed up a terrific regular season for Weaver, who finished the year 16-8 with a 3.75 ERA.

961 Los Angeles Dodgers Randy Wolf – L +1½ -200 Ev
962 Philadelphia Phillies Joe Blanton – R -1½ +170 -120
The Dodgers have another big test to face tonight as they must avoid falling into an inescapable hole and they do it by sending a pitcher known to Phillies fans. and a pitcher I really like in this situation. The Dodgers will send Randy Wolf to the mound Monday night when they try to even the NL championship series in Game 4 at Citizens Bank Park in Philly.
Philadelphia won 11-0 Sunday to take a 2-1 series lead behind Cliff Lee who has been lights out so far this year.
The Phillies knocked out Dodgers starter Hiroki Kuroda in the second inning.
Wolf (0-0, 4.91 ERA) will try to give Los Angeles a longer outing Monday. He made his lone career postseason start in Game 1 of the NL division series against St. Louis, allowed two runs over 3 2-3 innings in that 5-3 victory Oct. 7, and hasn’t pitched since.
The veteran left-hander became popular with Philadelphia fans while spending his first eight major league seasons with the Phillies.

235 Denver Broncos +3½ -115 +150
236 San Diego Chargers -3½ -105 -170
Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers (-3.5)
We have a big game tonight in Monday night Football as well.and its a major AFC West matchup in San Diego. If the Chargers are going to win a division title in 2009, for the fifth time in the last six years, they can’t afford a home loss to the surprisingly good Broncos.
The 2009 Denver Broncos (5-0 SU, 5-0 ATS) were projected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL this season after trading star quarterback Jay Cutler during the offseason. Instead, Denver is one of the NFL’s best squads after five weeks under new head coach Josh McDaniels.
San Diego (2-2 SU, 1-3 ATS) is looking for a little more balance on offense especially from their run game on Monday. The Chargers do have the NFL’s second-ranked passing offense under former nc state QB Phillip Rivers. He led the NFL in quarterback rating a year ago and has fired six TD strikes this season. With a team-best 24 receptions, Antonio Gates continues to be one of the best tight ends in the league. San Diego’s running game is the worst in the league and is averaging a pitiful 2.7 yards per carry as a team. LaDainian Tomlinson has been limited to just 20 carries this season due to injuries and is looking for a big game on Monday.
A huge week in sports lies ahead so stay tuned to our site for updates and free picks.
