10th oct 2009: Czech Republic – Poland
The team of Czech Republic is the very favorite of this game. Polish representation is passing big crisis – weak results, which destroyed hopes for departure to RPA 2010 result in Leo Beenhakker being fired. New temporary coach has become Stefan Majewski, which as a coach doesn’t have any success. His main trump is having “big” friends in PZPN – this is the only reason why Majewski is new temporary coach.
Polish team is mainly composed of players inexperienced in national game (Pawelec, Rzezniczak, Bieniuk, Kokoszka, Peszko, Janczyk, Grosicki, Polczak), having under 10 game in Polish squad. Goalkeepers plus defenders are all new players. Central defender Bieniuk plays in Polish second league and with much weaker players. Players like Baros, Rosicki, Sionko are much better than Polish defender players. Midfield and forward are better than defensive, but we can see important players such as Blaszczykowski, Roger, Lewandowski are not in the best form. Polish team is very weak at this time, having time to rebuild itself – point in this game is not important in fact.
Czech Republic still has chance to qualify to RPA 2010, but they have to win with Poland – if they lose points – they lose chance to promotion. Czech Republic have their weakest time behind them. They have changed coach and started to play better. They have much better team than Poland, Czech players play in very good clubs – Milan, Arsenal, Chelsea, Juventus, HSV, Bordeaux.
It seem an easy match for Czech Republic but never under evaluate the opponent: Poland remain a solid team and capable to go home with a draw at least. I expect Poland to play this quite tight and get men behind the ball. Its important with such a poor record on the road not to lose an early goal or push men forward and allow the opposition space. A shut out and a clean sheet will be in the managers mind tonight.
