NFL Marquee Games
Tennessee Titans at Pittsburgh Steelers -5 O/U 35 8:30 PM ET Thursday September 10, 2009
In the opening game the defending champion Steelers take on the Titans. The Steelers return 20 of 22 starters and for the Titans to win this game they will have to score on the top ranked defense of last season. The Titans upgraded their weak passing offense in the off-season with the addition of 1st round pick WR Kenny Britt and bringing in free agent WR Torry Holt. If the Titans’ offensive line this may be a game, but if the Steelers dominate on D they will win this game.
Philadelphia Eagles -1.5 at Carolina Panthers O/U 45 1:00 PM ET Sunday September 13, 2009
There are a lot of expectations in the City of Brotherly Love with all the new offensive weapons the Eagles have. Still, Philly’s season may hinge on how stalwarts Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook play. The Panthers have a talented team, but QB Jake Delhomme has to be more consistent than he was last season. If McNabb has a big day the Eagles should win this game.
Washington Redskins at New York Giants -6.5 O/U 37.5 4:15 PM ET Sunday September 13, 2009
Right off the bat there is a huge NFC East match up. The Redskins have a solid D, added stud DE Albert Haynesworth, and have Clinton Portis in the backfield. However, the Redskins season will be determined by the play of QB Jason Campbell. The Giants have many new faces on D, but who will Eli Manning’s #1 WR be? The team that play defense and keep the other team from making the big play will win.
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers -3 O/U 46 8:20 PM ET Sunday September 13, 2009
Jay Cutler plays in his first real game for the Bears and he faces Aaron Rogers, who played awesome in the preseason. The Packers have a couple of 1st round picks on defense and they will need to step up and stop Bears’ RB Matt Forte. Both teams have solid offenses, but the D is the big issues in this game. Neither team ranked in the top 20 on D last season, but both addressed their needs in the off-season.
Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots -9.5 O/U 47.5 7 PM ET Sunday September 14, 2009
TO is now on the Bills and Tom Brady is now healthy. Those are the 2 big stories in this game. The Bills had a legit D last season and they will have to show it in this game, especially is Brady is back on his game. The Patriots made a lot of changes to their defense, but that may not really matter if the Bills cannot stop Brady.
San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals -6.5 O/U 46.5 4:15 PM ET Sunday September 14, 2009
These two teams have a shot at winning the NFC West title and each team has something to prove. The 49ers are out to prove they are a playoff contender and the Cardinals are out to prove that last year’s Super Bowl run was not a fluke. The Cardinals have to show they can play defense like they did in the playoffs last year. Shaun Hill is the starting QB, but he will not have 1st round pick Michael Crabtree. Hey, winner of this game will be in 1st place in the NFC West.
