NCAA Pre-Season Favorites to win the BCS National Championship this Season

Well, it’s august and college football season is still a few weeks away and so are the official rankings, but here are some teams that have a legit shot to win the BCS title this season. These are the teams and their futures to win the BCS title at one of the leading sportsbooks.

Florida Gators +200

The Gators return many players from last season’s national championship team including former Heisman winning QB Tim Tebow. Their main concern if finding a playmaker to replace Percy Harvin, who is now with the Minnesota Vikings. Some player has to step up and be Tebow’s go-to guy. The defense should be solid again, as not only are all the players back, but so are their backups. The Gators are stacked and the favorites to become the first team since Nebraska in 1995 to repeat and national champions.

Texas Longhorns +400

Texas though they should have played Florida for the national championship last season and since they have many starters returning they may get their shot this season. QB Colt McCoy returns, who was the Heisman trophy runner-up last season. The main concern is that they lost their whole defensive line, but with the offense the Longhorns have and how they can light up the scoreboard it may not matter.

Oklahoma Sooners +600

Heisman winner QB Sam Bradford returns, but there will be many new starters on offense. The offensive line lost 4 starters and Bradford may not have as much time to find his receivers this season. The Sooners’ D may be their strength this season, as they return many players that held the Florida Gators to only 24 points in the BCS title game.

USC Trojans + 700

The Trojans will see many new starters this season, but they are all highly rated players, especially on defense. The offense only returns 9 starters and their biggest concern is who the QB will be. Redshirt sophomore Aaron Corp and true freshman Matt Barkley both looked solid in spring practice and the Trojans still do not have a starter. It also does not help that they play at Ohio State in their 2nd game of the season.

Ohio State Buckeyes +1200

The Buckeyes will have a solid defense again, but they need to find a replacement for NFL departed RB Chris Wells. LT is a huge concern, as Junior Andy Miller and sophomore Mike Adams battled will battle for the starting spot. Whoever wins the position will have a tough time protecting the QB’s blind side, especially when USC comes to town on September 12th.

Other teams that have decent odds to win the BCS title next season are Mississippi +1500, Notre Dame +2000, Alabama +2500, LSU +2500, and Virginia Tech +2500.
