23 aug 2009: Guimaraes – Benfica
After last week deception with a home draw undeserved i may say, Benfica travels to north to face Guimarães at Afonso Henriques stadium.
Last weekend, Maritimo played very closed behind against Benfica and they have scored in 1st half through a penalty, besides that they haven’t created any danger, Benfica tried to score and have missed a penalty before the late draw but they were unable to win at the end.
Now, Guimarães, a team within the same range of quality of Marítimo but in my opinion they make a worst team play and very poor exhibitions.
What confirmed my opinion about them was the scoreless draw they had at Setúbal against a really low budget team with 2nd division quality players, where Guimarães were favorites before the game starts.
Benfica is a team that plays better at away games because most smaller teams who play at Benfica’s home they “park the bus in front of the goal” and Benfica really have troubles to play like this when teams are lucky to score a goal and then they are well organized as Marítimo last game.
Guimarães team still have problems to create dangerous play as they score few goals last seasons under Manuel Cajuda orientation and of what i’ve seen they haven’t improved much yet with new season coach Nelo Vingada.
Benfica got their trust back after yesterday they smashed an ucranian team on Europa league and with the many supporters they have at north they will surely win again at Guimarães. The question is by more then 1 goal or not? In my opinion if they take advantage in 1st half then more goals will come after and the difference will be more then 1 goal.
