I was very disappointed with myself because I managed to do the worst possible thing on the turn. I just flat called a turn check raise against an aggressive opponent knowing that I was going to face a big river bet no matter what card came out.
In most cases, I am probably folding this hand in a normal situation. I just flat called here because I had position on my opponent and we had both been playing back at each other. I called in this spot wanting to see what he would do on the river.
When the worst possible card for me fell on the river, he instantly put in a pot sized bet. I now had to fold even if he was bluffing me because the Ace hit so many hands in his possible range. The nut flush draw was now an overpair, AJ just became two pair, etc.
I don’t know what he had but I was very confident that I was beat. I guess folding the turn was probably the best option in this situation.
