CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying Games

On Wednesday night there are two big CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying games, as Mexico hosts Trinidad and Tobago and Honduras hosts El Salvador. The two teams that are not in action tonight are almost assured of a World Cup berth, as Costa Rica leads the group with 12 points and USA has 10 points. The four teams that play tonight are all in a battle for 3rd place in the group, which has an automatic berth while the 4th place finisher will play a playoff with the 5th place team from South America. Anything can happen in soccer, but the 4th place team from CONCACAF will be a major underdog against the South American team, which is why 3rd place is so important. Currently El Salvador is in 3rd place with 5 points followed by Honduras (4 points), Mexico (3 points), and Trinidad and Tobago (2 points).

Trinidad and Tobago at Mexico

One of the leading sportsbooks has soccer moneylines with Mexico as huge favorites in this match at -500 and Trinidad and Tobago as major underdogs at +1000 with a draw at +450 and a total of O/U 2.5 goals.

Mexico has been a major disappointment so far in group play and they, pretty much, have to win this match in order to play in South Africa next summer. Mexico has been a fixture in the World Cup, as they have only missed 5 of them since 1930 and have not missed playing in the prestigious tournament since 1990. Their offense has only scored 4 goals in 4 matches and has given up 7. Trinidad and Tobago are the surprise team in the group and they are still in the race even though they are in last place with only 2 points and they have yet to win a group game. Their defense is not strong, as they have given up 9 goals in 4 games. Mexico has to win this game, as if they lose or even tie they are in major trouble.

El Salvador at Honduras

One of the leading sportsbooks has soccer moneylines with Honduras as the favorites in this match at -250 and El Salvador as underdogs at +650 with a draw at +300 and a total of O/U 2.5 goals.

The winner of this game will be in third place in the group and be in control of their World Cup destiny. El Salvador is coming off a big win over Mexico at home last week while Honduras lost in the USA last week. The next 3 games of these teams will determine if they play next summer or not, as Honduras plays 3 home matches while El Salvador plays 3 away matches. These teams could not be any more even in their 4 matches, as they are both only separated by 1 point and El Salvador has scored 6 goals and given up 6 and Honduras has scored 5 and given up 6.
