The most predictable player at the table
I love players who will sit down at a table with an amount that you know is their whole bankroll. For example, they will sit at a 100NL table with $76.60 or a 200NL table with $132.40 or $64.20. Most of these players are totally exploitable because they play the tightest poker that is known to man. You know that they have no more money behind them so they are basically playing with their cards face up. You know when they bet they have a good hand and that they are going to fold all of their weak and marginal hands because they don’t want to risk going broke with them. This makes it very easy to exploit them and get all their chips either quickly or slowly bleed them dry by taking small pots off of them.
Last night I was getting a little tired of the cash games and decided to play the $150 MTT on PokerStars. I was playing pretty good until I started to get a little crazy late. I went from third in chips with 22 players left to busting in 15th place out of 235. My first mistake was trying to make a move against a guy that I thought would fold 2nd pair. He wouldn’t. The final blow to my tournament was when I had KQs on the button all-in preflop against the BB’s pocket 5s. A 5 came on the flop and it was all over. I was able to make a $142 profit on my buyin. MTT’s sometimes seem to be a huge waste of time unless you finish in the top 5 spots. This could just be my frustration talking. I really hate playing for four and a half hours and blowing it at the end. With that said, I’ll keep plugging away at these from time to time hoping for my one big score.
