Preakness Stakes
I started wagering in horses a long while back mainly because I worked as a groom and it was a fun hobby especially when I had the video on dish network and on the computer for the tracks. I have never wagered alot of money because the odds of winning are awful and you really need to stick to a few tracks. That having been said I really do like the Preakness this year, even more than the Kentucky Derby.
Preakness Stakes picks are actually easier to predict compared to the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes. The Preakness Stakes is the second leg out of three for the Triple Crown title and takes place 2 weeks after the Derby. The 2009 Preakness Stakes will be taking place this year on Saturday, May 16th . Usually in the Preakness Stakes an easy prediction is to pick the winner of the Kentucky Derby if he is entered that year and usually they are. The Preakness Stakes is a much shorter track than both the Derby and the Belmont Stakes, so the chances for a victory are pretty good and this is where the excitement of the triple crown winner enters.Predicting a winner using the Kentucky Derby probably won’t be the case this year the case this year, since a 50/1 odds horse won the Derby. My choice is the same horse I predicted a few weeks ago to win the The Oaks, I really love Rachel Alexandra this year to win the Preakness.
I hope most of you read my blogs and predictions on this horse and wagered on her in the Kentucky Oaks. That was the easiest money I have made all year, she absolutely crushed the competition and actually she has won every race in 2009 by at least 10 lengths.
People in horse racing and on the horse racing boards though are worried about a filly running in the Preakness after last years tragedy with Eight Belles at the Kentucky Derby. We also need to remember a filly has not won the Preakness since 1924. If anything happened to happened to Rachel Alexandra it would be catastrophic for a sport that doesn’t need anything else bad to happen to it.
Rachel Alexandra has only run against other fillys so this will be an interesting race. Rachel Alexandra drew gate 13 on the outside and her draw could not have been a better draw for the powerful filly.
Another horse you may want to check out is Friesan Fire. She was a major disappointment at the Derby finishing in 18th ,basically this powerful horse never recovered from an atrocious start out of the gates. We’ve seen numerous Derby favorites be no shows at Churchill and then find their stride at Pimlico, and Friesan Fire certainly has the talent and the pedigree to be another one of the horses to surprise race fans.
I cant give you Rachel Alexandra as a sure fire winner as my pick like I did at the Oaks but if you are going wager on this years 134th running of the Preakness Stakes, you could do far worse than to put a few dollars on this powerful filly.
Cheers
