Bad Bets – Stay Away from Making Them!
When playing at an online casino the best bets to make are the ones that give the house the lowest edge. Duh, you obviously want to give your self the best chance to win. There are some bets and even games that you should stay away from, as they give the house a high advantage, which makes it harder for you to win.
Here are a few bets that give high house advantage:
* Baccarat Tie Bet – In Baccarat there are only three bets that you can make, as you can bet on the banker hand, player hand or the tie. The tie bet is the bet that gives you the highest payout, but also has a house edge of a whopping 14%. If you play Baccarat stick with the banker bet or player bet, as betting on the tie is a losing proposition.
* Gut Betting in Blackjack – Blackjack has a legit strategy that should be followed most of the time. The Blackjack strategy decreases the edge of the house. Players that make gut bets tend to lose quite often and it can give the house an edge of 20%.
* Insurance Bet in Blackjack – Basically when the dealer is showing an Ace and asks for insurance, they are really asking, “OK do want to just give me some money?” You should always stay away from the Blackjack insurance bet, as the best-case scenario is you lose half of your bet. Just ride your hand and hopefully the dealer does not have a face card to match with their Ace.
* The Proposition Bet in Craps – The Proposition bet is not a good bet, as it can give the house an edge of 16.7%. Stay away from this bet! One of the harder things for beginning Craps players to do is find out what bets are legit and what ones are losers. There are some good Craps bets that you can make, but the Proposition bet is definitely not one of them. Another good rule of thumb is stay away from betting on the middle of the Craps table, as that is where you will find Proposition bets.
* The Tie Bet in Casino War – Casino War is one of the easiest games to understand, as you only have to beat the dealer when you each get one card. You can bet on the tie, but it gives the house an edge of 18.7%! You will win 10/1 if you do hit the tie, but the tie rarely comes in.
* Roulette – Roulette is one of the classier casino games to play and it can be fun, but, depending on what Roulette wheel you play on, the house edge can range from 5.5% to 7.8%. If you plan on playing Roulette, especially online, you should look for the European Version of the game. The European version has only one green zero on the wheel, while the American version has the single zero as well as the double zero. The European version has a lower house edge.
